Out of the Swamp is an ongoing exploration of what it really takes for human consciousness and culture to evolve in a profound, lasting, and truly enlightened way. We want to find out what it means to transcend all old ways of thinking, acting, and relating to the world, pushing beyond even the most seemingly “progressive” and “liberal” values of the postmodern status quo.

We realize that the progressive shift in social values wrought by the baby boomers’ Sixties revolution — which brought into focus things like egalitarianism, civil rights, feminism, animal rights, ecological concerns, and of course, sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll — have helped our world immensely, but the Sixties happened almost half a century ago. The accelerating rate of change in the world today isn’t slowing down, and those postmodern values have had their day in the sun. To many of us, this “green” bog is beginning to feel more than a little stagnant. So what does it mean to step beyond the progressive edge? What does it take for a few brave souls to come together, question absolutely everything at the deepest level — including ourselves — and boldly go where no human beings have gone before?

From the perspective of spiritually enlightened consciousness, the future is wide-open, uncharted territory that is literally seething with infinite possibility. As some of the most fortunate and highly educated human beings on the planet, that future is ours for the creating. We have to be the ones to lead the way forward. But we can’t begin to build a genuinely new world until we have at least one foot standing on solid new ground — until we recognize the murky water that we’re already swimming in, feel the stagnation, and muster up the courage to take a radical leap…out of the swamp.
